The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) board trustee, Mr Gerard Ee, received a cheque for $122,850 on behalf of the fund from RHT Rajan Menon Foundation chairman Tan Chong Huat and the foundation's patron, Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee.

The amount was raised through the foundation's second annual charity golf tournament, held yesterday at the Singapore Island Country Club.

Funds were also raised for the World Wide Fund for Nature Singapore and the National Gallery Singapore.

Started in 2000, the SPMF is a registered charity which supports about 14,000 children and youth from low-income families every year.

It has disbursed almost $50 million and helped more than 130,000 youngsters since its inception.
