Close to 600 employees of Citi Singapore set a new record in the Singapore Book of Records yesterday for the most number of people playing chapteh together.

Chapteh is a traditional game where players try to keep a feathered shuttlecock in the air as long as possible by kicking it up with the heel of the foot.

The five-minute challenge by the 595 staff of Citi Singapore was part of the bank's activities for its family day and global community day, held at Bishan Park.

The event was the culmination of the bank's participation in more than 40 community initiatives and events this month, mobilising a total of 5,200 staff. They volunteered at various social service organisations, supporting a range of social causes from the elderly to disadvantaged children and youth.

To support social enterprises, Citi Singapore engaged these groups to organise the event yesterday.

For instance, Society Staples, which champions the cause of people with disabilities, managed the game booths and fringe activities, while the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore provided the food and drinks.

A cheque of $110,000 was presented by Citi Singapore to Mr Marc Lim and Mr Helmi Yusof, co-chairmen of ChildAid 2018, an annual charity concert co-organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times. The money was raised by nine department teams from Citi Singapore as part of its global community day's activities.
