Twenty children helped by The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund enjoyed a sponsored shopping trip to a Cheers outlet at Kallang Wave Mall yesterday, where they were given $15 each in vouchers to purchase food and drinks.
The event marked the close of a fund-raising effort by convenience store chain Cheers, FairPrice Foundation, and food and beverage firm Yeo Hiap Seng.
A total of $30,000 was raised in September through a 20-cent pledge for each 500ml bottle of Yeo's coconut juice or Asian drinks sold.
The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund supports about 14,000 children and young people a year. They receive help for school-related expenses such as meals or transport.
