About 100 pre-schoolers spent their Saturday afternoon at the weekend colouring at Suntec City Convention Centre in celebration of World Kids Colouring Day. The event, organised in Singapore for the ninth year by writing products manufacturer Staedtler, saw the children colouring pictures on the theme of "funny animals".

Six-year-old Ron Seah walked away with the first prize in the open category for pre-schoolers, winning $200, a $100 Popular voucher and a $50 hamper.

To participate in the pre-schoolers' competition, parents had to buy selected Staedtler World Kids Colouring Day items, and 10 per cent of the proceeds from the net sales of these items will be donated to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

Fund raising will continue until the end of this month. Those who are keen to purchase World Kids Colouring Day items can do so at Popular Bookstores and Urban Write outlets. More than 130 primary-school pupils also participated in the school category.
