Fifteen beneficiaries of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (STSPMF) had a whale of a time when they visited the Singapore Oceanarium on Sentosa on June 27, thrilled by the sight of sharks and dolphins. The trip to the underwater attraction – guided by volunteers from semiconductor supplier Dabo Corp – was the first for many of the children and their accompanying family members. Dabo sponsored the day trip as part of its engagement with the STSPMF, a community project that started in 2000 and was initiated by The Straits Times to provide pocket money for children from low-income families. Since its inception, the fund has helped more than 230,000 children and youth, and disbursed over $110 million to beneficiaries.
